Our Inheritance

Levites

Revelation 1:5-6 - "even from Jesus Christ the faithful Witness, the First-born from the dead and the Ruler of the kings of the earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood,
and made us kings and priests to God and His Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen."

The Bible clearly states, as you can see here in Revelation 1:5-6 and other verses, that God has made us priests.

1 Peter 2:9  "But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for possession, so that you might speak of the praises of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light..."

This is our job, our vocation 24/7.  It doesn't matter if you are a full time minister, or a "regular" Christian who works at a candy factory (if there is such a thing).  This is well established in Scripture, but there is one thing most Christians overlook in this reality.

In our world today, especially the Western world there is a huge focus on our rights, our votes, and what I have heard more than anything else, what is "fair."  But you see, as priests (Christians), our rights are completely different from the rest of the world.  What is fair for Egypt and Babylon, is not fair for the Kingdom of God.  We need a mind shift!

Look at this:

Numbers 18:20 - "And the Lord said to Aaron, You shall have no inheritance in their land, neither shall you have any part among them. I am your part and your inheritance among the sons of Israel."

This is God speaking to Aaron about not just him, but the entire Levite tribe.  The Levites were the priests of Israel.  Again:

Joshua 13:33  "But unto the tribe of Levi Moses gave not any inheritance: the LORD God of Israel was their inheritance, as he said unto them."

Are you getting it?  Can you see where this is going?  If you read through the Bible you will see this theme throughout.  And it all boils down to this one truth: We have no inheritance in this world.  We are merely pilgrims traveling through (1 Peter 2:11).  We belong to Jesus, who bought us.  Fair as the world sees it does not apply to us.  Our rights, our inheritance, is this:

Pictured:  Our inheritance.

You can keep everything else.  Keep the world.  Keep what's "fair."  I'll take my inheritance, my only right, the only one that ever mattered.  His name is Jesus, the giver of life, my healer, my beloved, my friend, all I will ever need.

Thank You.
